My older sister, knowing how much I love soundtracks and musicals, recommended that I listen to Grease. I've seen the movie, but she pointed out that we have the record of the original movie soundtrack, so that's what she recommended. The greatness of Grease is its catchy songs and jazzy music combined with easily relatable lyrics. It's easy to listen to and I find myself humming "Beauty School Dropout" and "We Go Together" in random places- the shower, during class, on the bus while listening to a different song.... I can't get these songs out of my head! I think that's what makes Grease such a great musical and soundtrack.
Grease is a classic love story, and everyone can see themselves in at least one of the characters. It captures the despair of bad choices with "Beauty School Dropout," in which Frankie's conscience tells her to finish high school since she has no future as the only people who would come to her for hair are drag queens. Many people face that feeling today, as their careers are held back or ruined because he or she doesn't have as much education as other professionals. Throughout the musical, there's lyrics about hope and dreams, which embody the human experience, because without hope that things will improve or dreams about tomorrow, there will be no tomorrow.
